Fresnel Institute joins the Virgo Collaboration

The Virgo collaboration warmly welcomes its newest member: the Fresnel Institute. This French Institute of 200 people with 14 research groups has a wide range of expertise ranging from optics to information processing.

The team joining Virgo is a world leader in scattered light calculation in complex optical structures and will provide access to the collaboration to some unique optical characterisation tools internally developed. The research for the next generation coating for the mirrors within Virgo collaboration will also greatly benefit from the expertise of the Fresnel Institute.
